How to add Key Activities to an initiative
Updated over 11 months ago

Company initiatives typically describe how the company is planning on reaching its company goals. Teams across the organisation join relevant initiatives and start creating the Key Activities that will help complete the initiative.

There are two ways to add Key Activities to an initiative.

1) Through the initiative overview page

Team leaders and sprint admin can add Key Activities to an initiative directly via the initiative overview page. Key Activities that are added in this way will populate the sprint of the team that is selected as the owner of the Key Activity.

Go to the initiative overview page and scroll down to the table with individual Key Activities. Click on "Create Key Activity".

Important note:

Key Activities are always part of a sprint in a team that is joined to the initiative. As a first step of adding Key Activities in this way you therefore have to select which team the Key Activity will be added to. You will only see teams that you are a leader of (including teams below your own that you also have leader permission for), AND additionally these teams need to have been joined to the initiative to be visible here.

Troubleshoot:

You only see teams that you have leader permissions for AND that are joined to the initiative. If you are not seeing the team you are looking for, check the following:

  • Make sure you have leader permissions in that team or a team above that team.

  • Make sure the team is joined to the initiative.

2) Through the team sprint

Team leaders and sprint admins can create Key Activities in the team sprint and tag it with the correct initiative tag.

Click on Create Key Activity in the tab "Sprint" or "Sprint Planning" on the Team Overview page. Fill in the details of the Key Activity and select the correct initiative in "Supports initiative".

Note that you will only see initiatives that the team has joined. See below how you join the team to an initiative.

Troubleshoot:

You only see initiative tags for initiative that have been joined to the team. If you are missing an initiative, go to the initiative overview page and join your team!
